The 24th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron was activated in Britain, December 1943. It went on to fight across France, Belgium and Germany through to cessation of hostilities in May 1945. Over the following months until the end of 1945 it worked as a constabulary for the military government as order was restored in Germany.
