These soldiers were not like the ordinary infantry. They were tough and arrogant. There was an aura about them that was frightening. I asked the GI that was guarding them to turn the Sergeant around so I could take pictures. He probably thought he was going to be shot.
So I did it with my little camera. You could almost feel their anguish. They were up against the wall, so to speak.
